Uncovering the Role of CD300f as an Essential Protein in Supporting Aging Well

A study identifies the key protein to healthy aging

A study published in Cell Reports found that a protein in certain immune cells can determine the life expectancy of mice and the healthy aging process. This protein, also known as the CD300f immuno receptor, is absent in animal models, which results in a reduced life expectancy, cognitive decline, and premature aging.

Hugo Peluffo is the leader of the study and a member of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and Institute of Neurosciences at the University of Barcelona.

Understanding the role of CD300f, the immune receptor, in determining the rate at which aging-associated diseases manifest, will help us better understand the process and contribute to designing strategies that regulate it. The expert notes that \”the immune receptor CD300f can be used as a biomedical target.\” Our team has also shown previously that some variants CD300f of the immune receptor may be useful in patients as biomarkers.
